LEGO Porsche 911

Did you also think, that a huge LEGO set is a perfect toy for adults? I thought this too. But I didn’t think that, for example a LEGO Creator Porsche 911 set is not a toy, it is an engineering masterpiece. I will intorduce this amazing set at this post. As I mentioned this is a Creator type set by LEGO. This means that these are more straightforward to build than Technic sets, which focus on creating complex, technical models with specialized components.

Creator sets mostly use classic LEGO bricks and plates. The set contains 1458 pieces. Dimensions of the model: 35cm x 10cm x 16cm. This is a 2in1 set, because the base is the same, but after 305 steps you can choose which type of Porsche 911 would you like to create.

You have two choice, the iconic Porsche 911 Targa or the classic Porsche 911 Turbo. The Porsche 911 Targa is a cabriolet version. The original one was 158 HP (118 kW) and had 2.0 Liter engine. The engine number: 4180001. The 911 Turbo’s performance 296 HP (221 kW) and has 3.3 Liter engine. The engine number: 6780001. So you can see that the difference is not only the design.

But now lets go back to the LEGO Creator set. This set placed in a 48cm x 11,5cm x 28cm box, which contains 10 packs. Every pack has a number, and the first 7 packs will need both of two types of the cars. This means, that the frist 305 steps will the same both of the cars. You can find these steps at the instruction book, where every steps are presented in detail with excellent pictures.

When you arrive at 305th step, you should make a big decision. You should choose one from the two type of cars (it is important, that you cannot create both two types of the cars simultaneously), and depends of your choice you should go on to the next step, and use the right packs for your choosed type. In this section there will be about 60 steps, and with these you can finish your model. So you should go along about 360 steps in total, if you would like to create your model. From these steps I found only one mistake at the instruction book, at the second section (at the 911 Turbo version), on the 12th steps. If you take the painted LEGO element the place what the instruction says, in the building this window will be contrary, than it should. Besides that, all the other steps were presented perfectly.

At the first section the building starts with the back of the car and it’s floor plate.

Than the seats follow them (back seat and front seats).

After that you should create the functional steering with the help of the steering gear. At this steps you need to use gears, what is quite unusual in a Creator set. After that following the front of the car.

With these steps you will arrive at the end of the first section, than you should choose as I wrote before.

At the second section you will finish with the top of the car. In this set you won’t find stickers, there are beautiful painted elements. For example for the logo or the name of the car’s type.

This is my first huge LEGO set, for me it lasted 6 hours to build it.
